Seminyak to Goa Gajah Temple or known a s Elephant Cave Temple is take about 1 hour and 30 minutes drive, is an ancient omission in the form of a cave with the high value of art and history. Goa Gajah Temple is one of tourist destinations worth to visit in Bali that is visited by a lot of tourists. The ticket visiting the Goa Gajah Temple is 15.000 IDR per person

Goa Gajah Temple which is located in west side of countryside, Blahbatuh Sub district and Gianyar Regency. It is about 27 km from Denpasar town. This cave is built at crevasse edge from the federation of 2 rills that is called Pangkung River , where the irrigation is mixed with Petanu River flow. The federation area of two rivers is called Campuhan/Mixture. It owns the magical energy on the basis of Rwabineda Concept/two different matters on this basic concept hence Goa Gajah Temple or Elephant Cave Temple is intentionally built among two rivers.

The word of Goa Gajah is anticipated coming from the word of Lwa Gajah, the name of Buddhist Temple or hermitage for Buddhist monk. The Goa Gajah’s name is written on Negara Kertagama papyrus which is compiled by Mpu Prapanca on 1365 M. Lwa or Lwah/Loh mean the river and it reflect to the meaning that the hermitage is located at Gajah River or in Air Gajah. In the year inscription 944 Saka, it is mentioned with the name of ‘ser ring Air Gajah’ that is meaning the Subak leader in Air Gajah. The word has mentioned that the hermitage of Lwa Gajah is located in Subak Air Gajah. Among the local residents, the Goa Gajah Temple is better known as Cave Temple, located in the west of Bedahulu Village, Blahbatuh Subdistrict, Gianyar Regency. It is about 27 km east of Denpasar. A visit to this temple can be done easily because it is only a few feet below the highway toward the village of Tampaksiring Indeed this temple was built at the valley of Petanu River having beautiful natural panorama.

Goa Gajah Temple Geographically

In the northern part of the temple, lies a carved Cave of Nature in the shape of the letter ”T”. Inside this cave there is a Ganesha statue considered as the god of sciences. Additionally, at the location can also be encountered some fragments of statues and a Trilangga surrounded by eight small phallus.

In the cave wall, there are niches of the hermitage and the face of Cave is decorated with carvings depicting a jungle with its contents. Similarly, there is a short inscription which reads ”Kumon” and ”Sahywangsa”, which according to the type of letters it is alleged to originate in the eleventh century AD .Meanwhile in the west of the cave, there is a building retaining a squating statue inside, and the Ganesha as well as Men Brayut statue. The latter in Buddhist mythology is known as Hariti, the savior of children.

In front of the cave, except for the guard statues, there are also fragments of building whose origin was unknown such as the building fragments that now being gathered in the temple’s courtyard located in the west of bathing pond. Fountain statues that have worked again in the holy bathing pond are divided into three parts and in terms of its style, they are probably derived from the eleventh century AD. Unfortunately, the statue fountain located in the middle of the pond, has not been found until now.
Goa Gajah Temple occur two Buddha statues, one of them is without head while another is still good enough with the style of Central Java. The north side of this statue seemingly stay to stick on the cliffs, where the foot of the cliff temple has long fallen into the creek. On the side of this small can be found three-pronged relief of stupa and the ruins of the cliff temple having beautiful carvings.

Based on archeological findings as mentioned above, it can be known the Goa Gajah Temple is derived from the ninth to eleventh centuries AD. In the past, it served as a monastery of Buddhist monk and Shivite priest. This conservatism also shows the unification of Buddhism and Shiva went well. For tourists who would like to visit to Goa Gajah Temple are required to wear a scarf or sarong because other than functioning as archaeological attractions, this temple also poses a sacred place or sanctum. Sarongs and scarves are available at the location.

From B Villa Sea Side to day we begin our trip at 09.00 am with Tan Nguyen family and we do the Horse riding on the beach side on the Pererenan Beach Canggu where famous with horse stable of Kuda P Stable well located in Gang Sabana just before the petrol station pererenan if you come from Denpasar direction .

Kuda P Stable has a queite horses for every ride and is come with friend guides to company us on riding the horse. The children are most welcome and can be lead if requiried.

Kuda P Stable is one of the best and affordable price for ride a horse near seminyak and by the time we are finishing the route of tour with horse riding we continue to visit the Tanah Lot Temple , the famous rock temple on sea side .

Before we heading to tanah lot temple , the family of Tan Nguyen i drive decided to try the local warung for lunch along the way to tanah lot temple. We found warung Guek on the right side after the bridge of four junction kaba-kaba . The local Balinese food they served is so taste and clean most important we found. The price is same as local price and the food every one said lovely.

And after lunch we continue to visit the Tanah Lot temple, having short ride from warung guek to tanah lot temple and finally we reach at the entrance gate. The ticket in tanah lot temple is 30.000 idr per person for tourist and 20.000 idr for local or domestic visitor. Enjoy the visiting time and i have explain the story of the temple tanah lot also we having blessing by holy water under the rock side of Tanah Lot Temple.

After visiting the Tanah Lot temple we heading to south of Bali where is famous sunset view in Uluwatu Temple , driving about 2 Hours with included traffic from tanah lot make us reach there on time .

On our half way , bettwen seminyak to uluwatu temple we found the view point traffic and thats is not a big deal , reach at uluwatu temple at 16.00 pm at parking area after 2 hours drive from Tanah Lot temple to Uluwatu Temple .

Entering the uluwatu temple there is ticket entress fee 20.000 idr per person adult and children is same price . We get a borrowed a free sarong, which is obligatory to wear to visit the holy temple area , and in uluwatu temple there is a chiky monkey that make us have to wacth out our stuff, the monkey i see stole some chinese sun glases. Lucky i prepare a slingshot just to make the monkey scare. Iam not shut them 🙂 is kind of holy monkey local balinese hindu trust so no one allowed to heart the monkey in Uluwatu Temple. Just we need to becare full and stay away from the monkey in Uluwatu Temple.

After visiting arround the Uluwatu temple , finally is time to enjoy the Kecak and fire dance where is start from 18:00 pm and finish at 19:00 pm and the Kecak and fire monkey dance is taking breff story of the Ramayana. The ticket of kecak and fire dance performance is 100.000 idr per person and we can get the ticket on the front desk of ticket counter on beside the kecak dance performance. And once you get the ticket at 17:30 pm is better to get in to the stage where is the most beauty sunset on the same time with dance performance in Uluwatu temple, then get the top chair over looking to breattaking view of the indian ocean , is will be one of the unforgetable moment on your holiday attractions .

After finished the Kecak and Fire dance we continue our trip to the last destination as planed to visit the Jimbaran Bay for seafood dinner. Leave the Uluwatu temple to Jimbaran bay is take us about 30 minutes with with view traffic point and the heavy one is in four juntions of Nirmalla Supermarket in Peninsula Hills. And after it we made to visit the Jimbaran for dinner.

Speend some time for amazing dinner on sea side , with fresh pulled out seafood from the bay. There is many restaurant along the bay, as famous good cafe we where is in Ganesha Cafe , also popular with Lia Caffe , bendega cafe seafood.

All the restaurant and cafe is settup in sea side and romantic table with candle light dinner.

After dinner finally we heading back to hotel Villa B Sea side and our beautiful day we did finish at 22:00pm .
